AutoCAD is a computer-aided drafting software program used for creating blueprints for buildings, bridges and computer chips. AutoCAD is used mainly by drafters, although engineers, surveyors and architects may need to use the software from time to time.

Professionals who use AutoCAD are often referred to as drafters. STAAD or (STAAD.Pro) is a structural analysis and design computer program originally developed by Research Engineers International in Yorba Linda, CA. In late 2005, Research Engineer International was bought by Bentley Systems.
STAAD.Pro is one of the most widely used structural analysis and design software. It supports several steel, concrete and timber design codes.It can make use of various forms of analysis from the traditional 1st order static analysis, 2nd order p-delta analysis, geometric non linear analysis or a buckling analysis. It can also make use of various forms of dynamic analysis from modal extraction to time history and response spectrum analysis. STAAD Pro is a comprehensive structural engineering software that addresses all aspects of structural engineering including model devolopment, verification, analyis, design and review of results. It includes advanced dynamic analysis and push over analysis for wind load and earthquake load.
COST & ESTIMATION
The purpose of cost estimating is to forecast the cost of a project prior to its actual construction. Cost estimating is a method of approximating the probable cost of a project before its construction. The exact cost of a project is known after completion of the project. Cost estimate is prepared at various stages during the life of a project on the basis of the information available during the time of preparation of the estimate. Generally for any construction project, three parties are involved namely owner, design professionals and construction professionals. In some cases the design professional and construction professional are from the same company or they form a team through a joint venture for providing service to the owner in the project. It is the responsibility of each party involved in the project to estimate the costs during various stages of the project. An early estimate helps the owner to decide whether the project is affordable within the available budget, while satisfying the project’s objectives

IS 456-2000 CODES FOR R.C.C STRUCTURE
IS 456-2000 (Plain and Reinforced Concrete) Code of Practice is an Indian Standard code of practice for general structural use of plain and reinforced concrete which is used by Civil Engineers. The latest revision of this standard was done in year 2000, reaffirmed 2005. This code uses the limit state design approach. It is written for use in India. It gives extensive information on the various aspects of concrete. IS 456 is considered as the Bible for Civil Engineers in India.
It contains five sections and eight annexures:

- Section 2: Materials, Workmanship, Inspection and Testing
- Section 3: General Design Considerations
- Section 4: Special Design Requirements for Structural Members and Systems
- Section 5: Structural Design (Limit State Method)

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application which has features like calculations, data storage, tables, graphing tools etc. It helps reduce repetition of work and makes documentation easier. Mainly finances can be handled better with a tool like Excel. Formulae can be defined which can be reflected when ever a particular cell’s value is changed.
